Authorities say that a man involved in a shooting rampage walked into a Florida hospital and pistol-whipped two nurses, fired off numerous rounds and eventually committed suicice.
Police say that at around 4AM citizens and hospital security began calling 911 reporting shots being fired and an armed man at the Halifax Health Medical Center.
Daytona Beach Police said they received calls moments earlier about someone shooting at a moving car on Clyde Morris Boulevard.
While police were responding, the suspect shot the glass door entrance to the hospital’s Professional Building.
Once inside, the man confronted two nurses and two patients in separate rooms. Police said the man pistol-whipped the nurses before shooting himself to death.
During the incident, the hospital was on lockdown.
The shooting remains under investigation.
