Ada OK Feb 17 2014 — Police arrested a substitute teacher after she allegedly reported to work drunk Friday.

Arrested was 43-year-old Michelle Childress of Ada. Police were called to Washington Elementary School at about 9 a.m. after faculty noticed Childress was exhibiting signs of intoxication, according to Ada police officer Jaron Ballagh.

Ballagh said while talking to Childress, he noticed she had slurred speech and she refused to perform a field sobriety test. Childress was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and taken to the Pontotoc County Justice Center. Officials said while at the justice center, Childress requested a breathalyzer test.

Ballagh said the result was a 0.263 breath alcohol concentration. She has since been released after posting $150 bail.

Pontotoc County Sheriff John Christian said Childress was previously arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse in October 2008 and in February 2013, she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, transporting an open container, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
